  • Our CSS School Code is 2116 and is listed as “Columbia U: College & Engineering”.
  • NOTE: There are several school codes for Columbia University. Students applying to Columbia College or The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science MUST choose the school code 2116, or your application materials will not be received.
  • Complete the 2024-2025 CSS Profile online if you wish to apply for Columbia University Grant.
  • Sending your CSS Profile to one college costs $25; additional reports are $16 per college. If this cost presents a significant financial burden for your family, please email us to learn about the fee waiver approval process.
  • Columbia requires the CSS Profile for both biological or adoptive parents. If the student’s parents are together, we will need one CSS Profile; if the student’s parents are no longer together (divorced, separated, or unmarried and living separately), each parent will need to complete a CSS Profile and submit their materials separately.

    • More information and instructions on how to file the second CSS Profile can be found here.
    • Step-parent information and tax documents, if applicable, must also be submitted with the relevant CSS Profile. This information is necessary so that we may accurately separate biological parent income from step-parent income.

    • To ensure each CSS Profile is processed correctly, make certain that both the first and second CSS Profile list the same answer for student name, student date of birth and parent that the student lives with.

    • Columbia views financial aid as a partnership between the student, both parents, and the school. While the application process requires information from the student and all parents, we recognize that unusual or complicated family circumstances may occasionally prevent the completion of a financial aid application. If you feel that you will be unable to complete this component of the financial aid application, please complete and upload the Noncustodial Parent Waiver Request and any supporting letters and/or documentation to IDOC.
