Documentation
Columbia requires tax documentation for the student and each parent (including biological, adoptive and step-parents, if applicable). This documentation is required to determine eligibility for Columbia Grant, even if the Direct Data Exchange (DDX) was used when submitting the FAFSA.
Upload your application materials to College Board’s secure Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). A list of required documents is listed below:
2023 W-2 forms for both parents and student.
2023 federal tax returns for both parents and student: Be sure to include all pages, schedules (if applicable: A, B, C, D, E, F, 1, 2, 3, etc.) and statements associated with each federal tax return. If the student or parent(s) have non-US income and tax documents, please follow the steps listed under the international student application instructions for Documentation.
2023 business returns (if applicable): If the student’s family owns all or part of a business, submit the 2023 federal tax return for each business (Corporations, S-Corporations and/or Partnerships). Please include Form 1120, 1120-S and/or 1065 and all K-1s, schedules and attachments. If the student’s family ownership totals less than 5%, only the K-1s for that business are required.
Non-Tax Filer Certification, if applicable: If either the parent or the student did not file a federal tax return for 2023, please submit a 2023 Parent or Student Non-Tax Filer Certification instead.
- Trust documentation for the student and/or parent(s), if applicable: Include a copy of the trust deed and most recent market value.
