Types of Institutional Aid:

Institutional aid is administered by academic departments and includes funding from institutional grants, fellowships, teaching and research assistantships, readerships, and preceptorships. All of these types of aid are considered institutional aid and can be awarded individually or in some combination, upon admission or to continuing students, by the academic department.

If you have been offered admission or are a continuing graduate engineering student, questions regarding these awards should be directed to your academic department.

Applying for Institutional Aid:

All prospective students may apply for admission to graduate programs in engineering with institutional aid consideration. There is no separate application for institutional aid. To apply for institutional aid, respond accordingly to the financial aid questions on the application for admission. You will be notified directly by the academic department along with or shortly after your admission decision if you are awarded institutional aid. If you do not receive notice this means no funding is available with your admission offer.

Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply for institutional aid. This type of aid is awarded by the academic department, to which you apply, based on merit and the amount of funding available. It is not guaranteed with admission. Typically, institutional aid is not available for Master’s (M.S.) programs. Prospective students seeking institutional aid with admission should actively seek other sources of aid and not rely solely on the possibility of being awarded institutional aid as this type of funding is limited.
